1. POSITION VACANT: Head – Affiliated Organisations Cell, Large Philanthropic Organisation, Mumbai

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Senior Advisor, the Head – Affiliated Organisations Cell (AOC) will establish and lead a centralised platform to support and strengthen the strategic direction, governance, administration, compliance, finance and operational effectiveness of multiple smaller trusts and affiliated entities within the organisation. The role will drive organisational transformation, operational excellence, resource optimisation, statutory compliance, and stakeholder management, while ensuring alignment with the values, governance standards, and strategic priorities of the parent organisation.
The incumbent will act as the principal strategic and institutional leader for the Affiliated Organisations Cell, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to improve efficiency, enhance institutional effectiveness, and enable the long-term sustainability of the affiliated entities. The incumbent will develop Board-ready business cases and build Board alignment for transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
(1) Establish and operationalise the Affiliated Organisations Cell as a centralised strategy, transformation, governance and administrative platform for multiple trusts and affiliated entities;
(2) Drive consolidation and standardisation of core functions including administration, finance, taxation, compliance, HR, travel, and shared services, including modernisation of systems and processes and, where appropriate, leveraging capabilities available within the parent organisation;
(3) Develop and implement trust-specific transformation plans and Board-ready business cases to ensure efficient resource utilisation across all Affiliated Organisations Cell initiatives;
(4) Lead the setup, expansion, and operations of educational institutions falling within the ambit of the Affiliated Organisations Cell;
(5) Build and manage strategic partnerships and lead stakeholder engagement by building trusted relationships with senior internal leadership, cross-functional teams, government authorities, auditors and regulatory agencies to support effective governance and organisational objectives;
(6) Engage with municipal authorities to align initiatives with civic requirements and expectations;
(7) Review trust-owned properties and other assets and recommend their optimal utilisation, including for education, healthcare and other public-purpose initiatives;
(8) Strengthen governance by ensuring appropriate representation of the parent organisation on the boards of affiliated trusts and entities;
(9) Drive strategic ownership arrangements, including securing majority or controlling interests in affiliated entities, where appropriate;
(10) Oversee capital allocation to ensure prudent investment and funding for high-impact initiatives;
(11) Identify and execute mergers and consolidation opportunities in compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualifications
Applicants must possess a postgraduate degree in Management, Finance, Public Policy, Law or another relevant discipline from a reputed institution.
Experience
(1) 15–20 years of experience in leadership roles spanning strategy, transformation, operations, administration, governance, finance or institutional management;
(2) Demonstrated experience managing complex multi-stakeholder organisations, trusts, foundations, public institutions or large corporate shared-service environments;
(3) Proven track record of developing robust business cases, influencing Boards and driving organisational transformation, consolidation initiatives and operational excellence.
(4) Experience in the governance, establishment, expansion or operation of educational institutions, healthcare institutions and/or property and asset utilisation will be an advantage;
(5) Exposure to mergers or consolidation, strategic ownership structures and capital allocation will be advantageous.
Skills and Competencies
(1) Strong understanding of governance frameworks, regulatory compliance and board processes;
(2) Strategic leadership and institution building, including portfolio transformation;
(3) Governance and Board management, including the ability to influence trustees and senior stakeholders;
(4) Trusts, foundations and not-for-profit administration;
(5) Financial and operational management, including business-case development and asset utilisation;
(6) Regulatory and statutory compliance;
(7) Stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
(8) Change management and organisational transformation;
(9) Resource optimisation and shared services design;
(10) Strong execution and problem-solving capability;
(11) High degree of integrity, judgment and discretion.
(12) Candidates with Gujarati language proficiency will have an added advantage.
(13) Willingness to travel extensively.
5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
The compensation offered for the position is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
