Job Description

1. POSITIONS VACANT: Consultant, International Not-for-Profit Organization, Bhubaneshwar, Odisha.

 

2. ORGANISATIONAL BACKGROUND:

 

Our client is a respected international not-for-profit, that works in public health, to improve the health of disadvantaged communities, across the globe.
 

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The Public Health Consultant will be responsible for providing programmatic support and technical expertise to ensure the successful implementation of the Manyata 5.0 initiative. The position will oversee the rollout of the program in Odisha and ensure close coordination with stakeholders. The role will report to the Associate Director to align program goals and objectives and she/he will be responsible the following tasks:
 

Key Job Responsibilities: 

 

(1) Program Implementation: Lead the implementation of the Manyata 5.0 initiative in Odisha, ensuring that program activities align with project objectives, timelines, and deliverables;
(2) Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for government officials, private healthcare providers, and local partners at the state level. Foster productive working relationships and ensure stakeholder alignment with the program’s goals;

(3) Data Management and Reporting: Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of program data. Ensure that the data is accurately captured, analyzed, and used to inform decision-making and program adjustments.;

(4) Training and Capacity Building: Coordinate the design and delivery of capacity-building initiatives for healthcare providers and program staff. Organize and facilitate workshops, technical training, and post-training follow-ups to strengthen knowledge of maternal and newborn healthcare standards;

(5) Quality Improvement (QI): Provide technical oversight for the implementation of quality

improvement activities in maternal and newborn healthcare facilities, ensuring that Manyata

standards are integrated effectively;

(6) Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E): Work closely with the M&E team to track program outcomes, indicators, and overall impact. Contribute to the documentation of lessons learned and best practices for continuous improvement;

(7) Program Reporting: Prepare and submit high-quality reports on program progress, challenges, and successes to the National Program Officer. Ensure timely and comprehensive documentation of activities and outcomes;

(8) Travel: Regular travel to districts and healthcare facilities to monitor the implementation of program activities and provide on-ground support;

(9) Any tasks assigned by the supervisor;


4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

 

Qualifications and Experience
(1) Applicant must have Graduate degree in Medicine, Nursing, or Alternate Medicine (MBBS/BAMS/BDS/BNYS);

(2) A master’s in public health (MPH) or MD in Community Medicine is preferred;
(3) At least 5-8 years of experience working in public health programs, especially in maternal and newborn health or quality of care initiatives;

 

Skills and Competencies:


(1) Familiarity with the Indian health system, government health programs (NRHM, NHM), and key stakeholders in the healthcare sector;
(2) Strong experience working with government health programs, especially Maternal and Child Health initiatives, and the ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders, including government counterparts;

(3) Demonstrated expertise in program management, with the ability to oversee multi-faceted health programs in complex settings;

(4) Ability to develop and lead training and capacity-building initiatives for healthcare professionals;

(5) Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi;

(6) Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software for data management and reporting;

(7) Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines and lead teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment;

(8) Strong organizational skills and ability to think critically and solve problems;

(9) Ability to travel extensively (up to 50% of the time);

 

5. CONSULTANCY FEE:

The overall consultancy fee budgeted for the assignment, for the period of three months, is INR 4,50,000/-.

8. NATURE OF CONTRACT:

 

The selected candidate shall be engaged as a Consultant on the rolls of SAMS, a third-party payrolling agency, for a full-time consultancy engagement initially offered for a period of three months. The contract is extendable based on performance and project requirements. It is explicitly clarified that this consultancy engagement does not constitute a promise or guarantee of future employment, with SAMS, or our client, or any other organization associated with the project.
