1. POSITION VACANT: Development Manager - Fundraising, Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE), New Delhi

 

2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

 

Alliance for an Energy-Efficient Economy (AEEE) is India’s leading policy support and implementation organisation and enabler of the energy efficiency market with a not-for-profit motive. AEEE promotes energy efficiency as a resource and collaborates with industry and government to transform the market for energy-efficient products and services, thereby contributing to meeting India’s energy security goals, clean energy, and climate change. AEEE collaborates with diverse stakeholders such as policymakers, government officials, businesses and industries, consumers, researchers, and civil society organizations.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The Development Manager – Fundraising (DMF) shall report to and directly support the Director Membership, Alliances and Partnership, in identifying, designing, developing and implementing non-FCRA funding opportunities for AEEE. The role involves fundraising for AEEE’s flagship events, research-backed programs, sub-national activities, CSR initiatives, and training. The DMF shall work with the following key stakeholders and donors, ensuring regular communication and adherence to reporting timelines:

 

(1) AEEE member organizations for sponsorships, CSR, and syndicated research opportunities;

(2) Indian donors with emphasis on philanthropies, family trusts, and UHNIs;

(3) Global donors including multilateral and bilateral organizations, foundations, etc.

 

Key Job Responsibilities:

 

A. Fundraising:

 

(1) Lead the development, management, and implementation of institutional fundraising strategies, along with the Director(s);

(2) Build a sustainable pipeline of potential funders, including corporate CSRs, Indian philanthropic organizations, Indian offices of global Multilateral/bi-lateral organizations, CSOs, etc.;

(3) Compile and maintain a database of international and local donor organizations;

(4) Ensure sponsorship for flagship AEEE events like FEED, ENERGISE and SDI;

(5) Develop letters of interest, and lead RFP submissions, grant applications, proposals, and award applications;

(6) Liaise with all verticals within AEEE to collect and present relevant information to stakeholders and potential donors;

(7) Regularly monitor donor websites and identify and inform opportunities matching the work of the organization;

(8) Assist the Director(s) in writing concept notes, project ideas, and proposals and ensure their timely submission;

(9) Assist the Director(s) in developing business plans to generate income from various sources;

(10) Improve and develop communications material for the organization such as brochures, website content, annual reports, etc.;

(11) Implement marketing strategies and promotional campaigns launched by the organization;

(11) Organize and attend non-profit events and network with relevant stakeholders.

 

B. Membership:

 

(1) Work under the direction of the Director to develop and support the implementation of AEEE’s membership engagement plans;

(2) Explore CSR opportunities and the co-creation of white papers and syndicated research;

(3) Pursue sponsorship opportunities for AEEE events and help organize flagship events;

(4) Monetize AEEE’s training programs.

 

C. Partnership Development and Coordination:

 

(1) Support the Director in maintaining existing partnerships with key relevant industry associations, peer CSOs, and Foundations, contributing to the effective stewardship and delivery of partnership agreements;

(2) Explore activities and events undertaken jointly with partners such as conferences and conclaves, helping promote each other’s activities, along with the Communications Manager;

(3) Support the Director in identifying and developing prospective partnerships.

 

D. Training:

 

(1) Support the development of AEEE’s thematic and/or regional training offers by working closely with verticals and developing strategic relationships with relevant sub-national stakeholders and corporates and helping identify and deliver innovative training services;
(2) Manage specific, tailor-made training programmes as requested by Members, ranging from short-term training workshops to longer-term training and facilitation;
(3) Provide marketing and fundraising support for all training-related services, including curated training offers, scheduled trainings, and new initiatives;

(4) Help develop and implement a business plan for training.

 

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

 

Qualifications:
Bachelors’ degree in any related field. Applicants with an MBA/ Masters’ shall be preferred.

 

Experience:
(1) Minimum eight years of progressive experience in a membership-based organisation/ international organisation managing fund-raising and stakeholder relations;

(2) Good understanding of the developmental sector ecosystem, and strong connections with key stakeholders in the sustainability space, such as the sustainability heads of large Indian corporates and other leading civil society organizations;

(3) Comfortable handling ‘stretch’ revenue targets.

 

Skills and Competencies:
(1) Strong understanding of membership and fundraising;
(2) Successful track record of developing strong relationships with member organizations and/or clients, prospects, and stakeholders;
(3) Ability to work independently and creatively;
(4) Knowledge and/or interest in Energy Efficiency (EE) and Sustainability;
(5) Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. (Note: Communication skills are important for the DM-MF who will need to build long-term relationships with potential donors, partners, or volunteers and persuasively explain AEEE’s vision to them);
(6) Research Skills: The applicant should be good at researching and devising strategies, as well as spotting and taking advantage of donation opportunities;
(7) People Management Abilities: The applicant should be adept at managing others, whether they are in her/his team, or in the wider organization, or partners;
(8) Sound knowledge of the developmental sector in India.

 

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
