Working with surgeons in over 30 countries, SightLife and its Global Partners restore sight to more than 20 men, women, and children each day and prevent an additional seven a day from suffering vision loss. SightLife’s efforts are focused internationally on global eye bank capacity building, clinical training, advocating for policy change and prevention and community outreach. SightLife’s mission is to eliminate corneal blindness globally through partnerships with governments, hospitals, eye banks and organizations in low- and middle-income countries, where 90% of the 12.7 million people suffering from curable corneal blindness live.

About Prevention Program

The Prevention Program works through partnering with eye hospitals in underserved regions to provide training to ASHA workers to help them provide first aid eye care to those who suffer from eye trauma. It aims to achieve this by Corneal Abrasion Diagnosis and Management, Female Community Health Volunteers Training and Awareness and Community Outreach Activities.

Currently Sightlife is working with two partners comprising Sitapur Eye Hospital (UP), Bharatpur and Eye Hospital (Nepal) with plans for expansion to two additional sites in Nepal in 2019.


Reporting to the Director, Clinical and Prevention Programs and working collaboratively with key global SightLife staff and subject matter experts, the Prevention Program Manager (PPM) shall be responsible for managing and implementing SightLife’s prevention program in India and Nepal

The Prevention Program Manager will manage existing partners/ projects in Kathmandu and Bharatpur, Nepal, and Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh India, implement new projects, identify and evaluate new potential partnerships, collaborate with the advocacy team to advocate for policy adoption by governments and ensure the program is ready for scale. The incumbent would need to be a seasoned professional with strong exposure to overseeing large scale community outreach work.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

(1) Develop and maintain relationships with partners at multiple levels and update regularly on project status; 
(2) Develop and maintain project implementation plans and risk mitigation plans;
(3) Collaborate with the prevention program team and regional leadership to refine and manage project budgeting, resource allocation, and reallocation and to asses and determine staffing needs during the project’s lifecycle;
(4) Manage Senior Coordinator, Clinical and Prevention Programs and program staff at partner eye hospitals;
(5) Oversee hiring of staff required for partner programs, share management with Senior Coordinator;
(6) Collaborate with learning and development, marketing and prevention program team members to localize and deploy curriculum and training;
(7) Manage state/ district level communication with government related to the program and obtain government permission for launch of any new project;
(8) Manage training logistics such as venue identification, set-up requirements, etc.; Communicate event details to internal and external audience;
(9) Manage tracking, monitoring and gathering of project level reports and program information;
(10) Prepare project performance metrics and status to leadership team;
(11) Manage procurement of supplies required for pilot project;
(12) Lead workshops and training sessions for program staff and local stakeholders to determine localized program models and opportunities for collaboration;


The applicant must possess a Masters in Business Administration (MBA)/ Public Health (MPH) or other relevant professional qualification, from a top notch, premier institute.

(1) Minimum eight to 10 years of progressive experience in hospital management or NGO partner management;
(2) Minimum five years of progressive experience in management role;
(3) Experience of working in complex hospital systems; Understanding of eye care shall be preferred.

Essential Skills and Competencies:
(1) Experience of resolving multiple and conflicting stakeholder priorities;
(2) Demonstrated knowledge of project management and experience in implementing complex projects;
(3) Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent planning, time management, decision-making and organization skills; 
(4) Experience in developing and managing project budgets; 
(5) Continuous process improvement mindset and skills;
(6) Proven track record for critical thinking and complex problem solving;
(7) Experience in data collection and analysis, familiarity interpreting research;
(8) Ability to foster and build collaborative working relationships with various stakeholders;
(9) Excellent communication skills in English and Hindi is essential. Knowledge of a third language shall be an advantage;
(10) Exceptional verbal, written, analytical, presentation, customer service and interpersonal skills;
(11) Self-motivated team player with desire and ability to learn rapidly;
(12) Ability to work late night and early morning when needed, as a participant in global meetings in different time zones; 
(13) Ability to travel up to 40%, including internationally as needed


Gross compensation budgeted for the position is attractive. The actual offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.
