Smile Train India wishes to recruit an outstanding fundraising professional, to fill the vacancy for Fundraising Officer (FO). The position requires an independent, self-starter with a strong network and the ability to foster new relationships to help secure funding to support Smile Train’s vast program across India. S/he will work closely with colleagues across India to raise funds from Corporates and Foundations.


Reporting to the Head of Communications and Business Development the FO shall be responsible for the following:


Key Roles and Responsibilities:

(1) Manage, develop and expand the organization’s portfolio and database of mid-level donors and prospects;

(2) Conduct prospect research on Family Foundations, Corporates and Public Sector Undertakings and create donor profiles;

(3) Actively identify, cultivate, and solicit new partnerships; Coordinate with colleagues and medical partners to identify opportunities which will benefit the organization;

(4) Prepare donor narratives and fund utilization reports for Foundations and Corporate Partners; Work with the Programs and Finance Departments to prepare impact reports and financial utilization reports, as per the current CSR reporting regulations;

(5) Build new corporate donors to grow the revenue stream; Meet new prospects and submit proposals to drive multiyear high-value strategic partnerships;
(6) Prepare, research and customize funding proposals to solicit institutional funding;
(7) Work closely with corporate partners to deepen their employee engagement programs;
(8) Plan and organize donor visits and events to maximize engagement with leadership teams as well as their employee base;
(9) Assist with special events, including donor cultivation and stewardship events.





Applicants should have bachelor's degree in a relevant field from a reputed institution.


(1) Minimum three years of relevant experience in development or fundraising, ideally in a non-profit environment;

(2) Candidates with corporate fundraising experience shall be preferred.


(1) Strong strategic, analytical, and persuasive skills;

(2) Knowledge of India CSR laws and regulations;

(3) Ability to network and leverage contacts and connections;

(4) Ability to prioritize while working under multiple deadlines;

(5) Detail-oriented; ability to effectively collect, analyze, organize, distill and present information;

(6) Superior verbal and written communication skills; 

(7) Great customer service and interpersonal skills;

(8) Ability to maintain perspective and a sense of humour.




Gross annual compensation budgeted for the position is attractive. Please note that offers shall be commensurate with the qualifications, experience, and salary history of the selected candidate.
