1. POSITION VACANT: Finance Director, Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital, New Delhi
2. ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND:
Established in 1914, Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital (SCEH) is one of the oldest and largest eyecare institutions in the country. It is globally respected for the provision of comprehensive eye and ENT care, high impact work among communities, quality research work and publications, and extensive education and training programmes for the healthcare fraternity.
SCEH provides state of the art and comprehensive eyecare services through a team of highly experienced and well-trained physicians, who are deeply committed to patient care.
SCEH has completed 100 years of existence and along with its tertiary center in New Delhi, has seven regional surgical hubs across the states of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The organization has a staff and trainee complement of 1500 persons and performs 50,000 sight restoring surgeries and provides clinical services to 500,000 people across its service footprint, each year.
SCEH works on a cross-subsidy model and performs 50% of its surgeries free, or at highly subsidized rates. It works in close partnership with leading international players in community eye health, as well as some of the best-known corporates in India. Project Background:
SCEH has drawn up a strategic vision and an organizational transformation plan for the period 2022 to 2030, titled “SAMBHAV”. Its strategic vision is to reach a surgical volume of 150,000 and a patient base of 15,00,000, by the end of 2030.
The accomplishment of these targets is riding on key initiatives under (1) Human Resource Development (2) Digitalization (3) Geographic Expansion (4) Resource Mobilization (5) Medical Education and Training (6) Building a Clinical Centre of Excellence (7) Research and (8) Communication and Advocacy.
At the organizational level, transformation is being driven through initiatives in (1) Service Excellence (2) Kaizen (3) 5S (4) Structured Problem Solving, and (5) Value-based behavior.
3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Director - Strategic Planning and Sustainability, the Finance Director (FD) shall oversee all financial matters at SCEH and drive the organization’s financial strategy and planning processes with emphasis on automation. S/he shall also be responsible for assessing and helping improve the financial performance of the organization, with attention to possible risks and investments.
The post-holder will provide support to the CEO, senior leadership and stakeholders, on all business reviews, manage budgets across multiple departments/ divisions and forecast future needs, instituting a long-term planning process for making informed decisions that improve the organization’s performance, sustainability and long-term success.
Key Job Responsibilities:
(1) Set-up and oversee the organization’s financial management systems;
(2) Institute systematic financial planning by the organization, emphasizing performance and risk analysis;
(3) Drive and oversee successful automation of key financial processes;
(4) Ensure compliance with all tax and regulatory requirements applicable to the organization;
(5) Oversee qualitative compliance with all financial statutory obligations and requirements;
(6) Enable the management team to take appropriate fiscal decisions based on appropriate analysis and projections;
(7) Ensure optimum usage of grant funding, giving necessary visibility and transparency to external stakeholders;
(8) Oversee and ensure effective implementation of requisite processes;
(9) Institute robust and improvement oriented internal control systems;
(10) Prepare appropriate and timely fiscal performance reports for the consumption of the Audit Committee and Board members;
(11) Ensure constant attention to the organization’s financial position and act proactively to prevent problems;
(12) Set targets for and supervise all accounting and finance personnel (viz. management accountants, internal auditors etc.).
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualification and Experience
(1) Applicants must be qualified CAs, ICWAs, ICFAs, or equivalent, with 20 years of experience in managing the finance function, of which five should be at the leadership level;
(2) Experience of leading the finance function for a company, or non-profit, with annual operations of around Rs. 100 crores;
(3) Knowledge and experience of FCRA compliance is desirable.
Requirements and Skills:
(1) Proven experience as Director of Finance or similar role;
(2) In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws and best practices;
(3) Demonstrated experience in automation and technology adoption for the successful computerization of accounting and financial processes;
(4) Solid knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting;
(5) Proficiency in the use of MS Office and sophisticated financial accounting and management software (e.g. Tally, SAP, etc.);
(6) Analytical with strong strategic capabilities;
(7) Experience in risk assessment and management;
(8) Demonstrated competency in leadership, organization, communication, and influencing.
