1. POSITION VACANT: Associate Director-Finance, Language and Learning Foundation, New Delhi.
2. ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND:
Language and Learning Foundation (LLF) was founded in 2015, with a vision to develop strong foundational language and literacy among all children, to facilitate thinking and reasoning, through capacity building of teachers and teacher educators. The organization works with various state governments and has been recognized as a domain leader in language and literacy learning and multilingual education.
LLF is a member of a number of national and state-level committees and working groups for the new National Education Policy, 2020, Early Childhood Education and Foundational Learning, Curriculum, and Pedagogy, and is committed to supporting the national agenda of Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN). It is implementing India’s first CSR-funded Education Development Impact Bond (DIB) through its Learning Improvement Program in Haryana.
LLF has grown to become a significant partner of the Central Square Foundation for its Foundational Literacy program and has garnered support from leading education philanthropies including Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Tata Trusts, HT Parekh Foundation, and UNICEF. It works in partnership with eight state governments to design and deliver state-led foundational learning programs. LLF recently won the prestigious HCL Grant - The Fifth Estate to work on the inclusion of children’s home languages in teaching and learning in primary classrooms.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Associate Director – Finance (ADF) will report to the Executive Director and head the Finance Unit. S/he will spearhead all financial management and accounting matters.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
(A) Financial Management:
(1) Work closely with Executive Director to develop a financial plan and monitor its implementation;
(2) Monitor cash flow and work out scenario planning;
(3) Analyse the financial climate and eco-system trends to assist senior executives in creating strategic plans for the future;
(4) Interpret complex financial information and provide updates and information as needed;
(5) Seek out methods and practices to minimise financial risk;
(6) Contract auditing services to ensure financial monitoring is up-to-date;
(7) Create and maintain relationships with service providers and banking institutions.
(B) Supervision of Accounts and Audits:
(1) Supervise the accounting, HR and admin teams in the facilitation of day-to-day operations, including tracking financial data, invoicing, payroll, etc;
(2) Prepare financial reports on a monthly and annual basis;
(3) Monitor accounts and other financial transactions;
(4) Ensure that all of the organization’s financial practices are in line with statutory regulations and legislation.
(C) Budget Management
(1) Support the development of program and state budgets;
(2) Undertake organization-wide budgetary and fundraising planning;
(3) Oversee, review, and ensure adherence to budgets by each functional unit;
(4) Orient program staff on technology-based budget management;
(5) Also work on operational aspects, as and when needed.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualification and Experience
(1) Applicants must postgraduates in Commerce, Economics, or other relevant subjects;
(2) Possess 12 years of experience in the supervision of accounting and financial matters;
(3) Have good knowledge of legal provisions relating to financial operations;
(4) Prior experience of working in the NGO sector is preferred.
Skills and Competencies
(1) Strong knowledge of computer operations along with the ability to use IT-based tools/ software for financial management. Knowledge of Tally essential;
(2) Ability to communicate effectively in Hindi is necessary;
(3) Strong communication skills in English are desirable;
(4) Result-orientation with the ability to adjust to a fast, changing work environment associated with a young, growing organization.
