Project Background

CG is accelerating the next shift towards India’s clean energy transition by building ambitious coalitions and networks for faster action. One such transition is the shift to renewable electricity which has huge potential for curtailing emissions. A departure from the fossilized use of energy and electricity shall help India address present-day challenges of making cities cleaner, lower dependence on fuel imports and create jobs.

 

CG is supporting the growth and large-scale uptake of renewable electricity (RE) and its programs elevate renewable energy in India by leveraging the opportunity that lies with Indian business to lead on RE adoption. Over 430 companies crossing over 100 markets have joined RE100 and they are committed to procuring over 400 TWh of annual electricity each year. 10 India-headquartered companies are a part of CG’s initiative as well.

 

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

CG is looking for an experienced RE specialist for the role of Program Manager, RE100 (PMRE), for the India Office. This is an exciting opportunity, and the post-holder shall be responsible for helping formulate and implement renewable energy strategies, to support CG’s corporate emphasis for RE100.

 

The PMRE will work with businesses to foster higher engagement through RE100 and drive action by addressing emission-intense technological challenges, implementing scalable business models, publicizing best practices, and informing policy.

 

S/he shall also drive CG’s corporate outreach and recruitment and be in charge of articulating the corporate membership value proposition. The PMRE shall be a part of the execution team that is working on ongoing projects for state level policy advocacy and responsible for procurement of RE. The post-holder shall be a key connect in providing strategic insight and direction to CG’s engagement on G20.

 

The PMRE will report to the Senior Manager, Systems, in India, and will be sited in the Delhi Office.

 

Key Job Responsibilities:

 

(A) Project Management:
(1) Manage and build CG’s RE100 portfolio in India and related projects and initiatives;

(2) Contribute to internal organizational knowledge through market research, and communication pieces, such as articles and blogs;

(3) Liaise with internal stakeholders such as global functional teams, including programs, communications, fundraising and finance, as needed under the project, ensuring clear objectives, scope, outcomes, and deliverables;

(4) Maintain relations with external stakeholders such as India-based partners, including business associations, civil society, NGOs, think tanks and others;

(5) Showcase key industry leadership at Climate Week NYC and other critical industry events such as COP, Clean Energy Ministerial and others.

 

(B) Communications and Events:
(1) Manage and facilitate the delivery of project meetings, and workshops/ conferences;

(2) Work with the India and global teams, to ensure that communications and events align and support the aims of the project and missions of the teams;

(3) Ensure effective external communication of the programs and their impact through articles, blogs, twitter feeds, LinkedIn, etc., with support from the India and global communications teams;

(4) Represent the organization when required to external stakeholders in conference calls and conferences.

 

(C) Other Responsibilities:

(1) Contribute to monitoring, evaluation and reporting of projects and programs;

(2) Undertake other related tasks, including administration, as and when required;

(3) Undertake required learning and development programs initiated by the organization for individual growth, as well as the success of projects;

(4) Contribute to the larger India and international organizational strategy;

(5) Work flexibly as and when required, e.g. for events and major media moments, and as part of a team crossing international time zones.

 

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND COMPETENCIES:

 

Qualification:

Applicants must have a professional qualification in energy systems, environment or climate policy, development economics, sustainability, or public affairs, or other subject, or equivalent experience, aligned with the role.

 

Experience:
(1) Applicants must have demonstrated, in-depth experience of working in renewable energy;
(2) Experience of working with government agencies, research organizations, civil society, NGOs or industry association/ chambers is required;
(3) Understanding and appreciation of the role of NGOs and corporations in transforming policies and markets to address climate change is also required;
(4) Applicants must have experience of managing relationships and building coalitions across a range of public and private sector stakeholders.

 

Skills and Competencies:

(1) Commitment to the mission of the Climate Group;

(2) Strong negotiation skills and people management skills;

(3) A critical thinker and a willing collaborator;

(4) Knowledge of policy frameworks in the Energy System;

(5) Ability to do research, synthesize information, and incubate new ideas;

(6) Track record in project delivery, including managing partners and organizing events;

(7) Attention to detail, strong analytical skills, fluent written and spoken English;

(8) Ability to work in leaner teams, manage conflicting priorities and be a strong team player under pressure, and proactively learn and take on roles;

(9) Competent user of MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint);
(10) Knowledge of project management software like Salesforce/ FinancialForce.

 

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

 

Gross compensation budgeted for the position ranges from INR 16 to 18 lacs per annum, based on experience. Please note that the offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and salary history.
