1. POSITION VACANT: Head Human Resources, Respected Indian Not-for-Profit, New Delhi

 

2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

 

Our client is a globally respected Indian Not-for-Profit (INP), addressing the needs of maternal and child health in India. Active in India since 2015, the organization is focused on maternal death, under five mortality and malnutrition among children.

 

Operating on both sides of the issue viz. supply and demand, our client endeavours to create an ecosystem of innovation, combined with smart advocacy. Sustainability and scale are core to their philosophy. The organization works closely with government and communities, who are the natural owners of their interventions, without creating a new parallel system. They implement programmes directly, as well as in partnership with affiliated agencies and implementing partners.

 

The organization is generously supported by international donor agencies and foundations, apart from large Indian corporates.

 

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Head Human Resources (HHR) shall be responsible for establishing and streamlining the full gamut of the organization’s people management systems and processes. S/he will design and institute best in class HR policies and practices in the areas of Culture, Talent Acquisition, Performance Evaluation, Professional Development and Employee Satisfaction.

 

Key Deliverables:

(1) Design and implement appropriate and progressive HR policies;

(2) Work closely with the organization’s leadership and employees to build work relationships, create a culture of trust, respect and transparency between management and employees;

(3) Plan initiatives to improve employee engagement and build a sense of connectedness among employees;

(4) Determine talent needs and lead recruitment and onboarding efforts to attract high calibre resource persons;

(5) Lead a comprehensive performance evaluation process to assess employees on technical acumen, attributes, and alignment with organisation values;

(6) Lead a strong professional development mechanism to meet training needs, mentor staff, and ensure appropriate career development tracks;

(7) Support benefits management and payroll administration including system management, data record-keeping, and contract management for staff, independent contractors, and volunteers;

(8) Serve as POC for staff for all internal HR queries and issues, acting as the organization’s ombudsman.

 

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

 

Qualifications and Experience :

(1) Applicants must possess a post-graduate degree/ diploma in Human Resource Management, Business Management, Psychology, or other relevant discipline, with at least eight years of experience in a leadership position managing people development, organizational design, recruitment, compensation and benefits, employee relations, training, and HR project management;

(2) Experience of working with the development sector shall be preferred.

 

Skills and Competencies:

(1) Ability to work amicably with persons from varied backgrounds;

(2) Experience of working in small, fast-growing organizations shall be an advantage;

(3) Demonstrated leadership skills, accompanied by versatility, integrity and team spirit;

(4) Proven ability to deal sensitively with and resolve conflict and confrontation;

(5) Strong interpersonal skills with he proven ability to deal tactfully and build effective relationships with people across levels, both internally and externally;

(6) Strong verbal and written communication as well as documentation and reporting skills in English;

(7) Good computer skills, specifically in MS Office, apart from familiarity with inter/ intranet, Google Drive, etc.;

(8) Self-motivated and proactive, with a high level of compassion, empathy and passion to work on complex social causes, especially the cause of children and mother;

(9) Willingness to travel around 50% of the time, depending on the spread and locations covered by the organisation.

 

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

 

Gross compensation budgeted for the position ranges from Rs. 24 to 30 lacs per annum. Please note that the offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and salary history.
