Senior Advisor - Fundraising

1. POSITION VACANT: Senior Advisor - Fundraising, Centre for Catalyzing Change, New Delhi

2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

Centre for Catalyzing Change (formerly CEDPA India), is a non-profit organization, focused on improving the lives of women and girls in India by equipping, mobilizing, educating and empowering women and girls, to achieve gender equality.

Centre for Catalyzing Change (C3) helps create and increase educational and livelihood opportunities for adolescent girls, by ensuring access to lifesaving reproductive health information and services and strengthening their ability to become leaders in their communities and the nation. Working in partnership with communities, C3’s proven approach is to develop and give women, young girls and boys the tools they need to improve their lives, as well as that of their families and communities.

C3 is implementing a number of advocacy and intervention programmes at the grassroot, state and national levels in the areas of Youth, Reproductive Rights and Gender & Governance. Programmes include a large evidence to policy initiative that involves the generation of robust data and evidence on diverse aspects of women’s empowerment, combined with policy advocacy and technical support to concerned Government Departments in Bihar.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Senior Advisor - Fundraising shall develop and implement a five-year fundraising strategy, enabling significant increase in C3’s portfolio of all four program areas viz. Youth, Gender and Governance, Reproduction and Maternal Health and Small Grants.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
(1) Devise and be accountable for delivery of C3’s fundraising strategy (Five year), to be approved by the Executive Director, Board and senior leadership team;
(2) Devise and implement a strategy for finding alternative resources for the long-term sustainability of the organization like building a pool of unrestricted funds and corpus;
(3) Propose and manage the fundraising budget, achieving or exceeding the same;
(4) Coordinate and manage all fundraising activities, including the community, trusts, corporates, major donors and digital fundraising;
(5) Line manage and motivate a team of fundraising managers and officers across different fundraising functions;
(6) Build relationships with bi-lateral donors, trusts, foundations and other institutional funders;
(7) Write funding applications to donors;
(8) Attend networking events and meetings with potential donors;
(9) Prepare reports and give presentations on fundraising progress to the Executive Director, Board and senior leadership team.

(A) Corporate Fundraising:
(1) Diversify C3 funding portfolio by corporate donor acquisition. Scan and analyse trends and patterns of giving across geographies;
(2) Build a network of corporate donors (CSR and Marketing Heads). Reach out to corporates, specifically in pre-decided states, as per C3 strategy;
(3) Create concepts and incubation models for the corporate donors along with the program team;
(4) Develop innovative strategies to partner with corporates for cause-related marketing concepts that increase the visibility of the organization;
(5) Assist the communication and program teams in large scale events, with emphasis on increasing corporate participation and creating opportunities for C3 presence at various corporate events;
(6) Assist the communication team with creating special newsletters for corporates.

(B) Individual Giving:
(1) Build relationships with high profile and high net worth individuals, as potential donors to the organisation;
(2) Set up an online giving platform for the organization. Develop an annual online giving plan;
(3) Develop individual giving products, using analysis of demographics of donors, both in India and abroad;
(4) Strategize to create employee giving platforms;
(5) Develop an annual calendar of events, to attract employees to donate and volunteer with C3;
(6) Handle the HNI team of fundraisers. Reach out to philanthropists in India and abroad;
(7) Create a robust strategy for the retention of donors and convert one time donors to regular giving;
(8) Develop a culture of giving within the organization, reaching out to employees, their families and families and the Board.

(C) Events:
(1) Participate in fundraising events, viz. marathons and other suitable platforms as they arise;
(2) Strategize and implement a C3 annual event that attracts diverse donors from across India.

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualifications:
Applicants must be post graduates in Business Management, Marketing, Finance, Communication or other relevant discipline from a respected educational institution

Experience:
(1) Minimum 10-12 years of experience in donor fund raising/ resource mobilization/ business development, including five years at the senior level;
(2) Must be familiar with the sectors in which C3 works and knowledgeable about CSR law and applicable rules and regulations, impacting the fundraising landscape for non-profits in India;
(3) Proven track record of being a people’s person and managing a diversified team.

Skills and Competencies:
(1) Must have the innovation skills to achieve fundraising targets even in adverse situations. Creative with the ability to think out of the box and devise innovative ways to reach out to newer donors and retain existing ones;
(2) Must have excellent written and oral presentation skills, with a good track record in writing winning, fundraising proposals and applications;
(3) Must have networking skills to represent the organization to high profile and HNIs  and persuade them to contribute;
(4) Excellent command of the English and Hindi language, covering both written and oral communication;
(5) Must have adequate digital skills to lead ‘mobile and online giving,’ possessing knowledge of the use of these technologies and awareness of their potential;
(6) Strong budget management skills, with the ability to work effectively despite limited resources;
(7) Strong time management skills, to consistently meet stringent deadlines.
