1. POSITION VACANT: Program Officer, Communications, Centre for Catalyzing Change, New Delhi

2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

Centre for Catalyzing Change (formerly CEDPA India), is a non-profit organization, focused on improving the lives of women and girls in India by equipping, mobilizing, educating and empowering women and girls, to achieve gender equality.

Centre for Catalyzing Change (C3) helps create and increase educational and livelihood opportunities for adolescent girls, by ensuring access to lifesaving reproductive health information and services and strengthening their ability to become leaders in their communities and the nation. Working in partnership with communities, C3’s proven approach is to develop and give women, young girls and boys the tools they need to improve their lives, as well as that of their families and communities.

C3 is implementing a number of advocacy and intervention programmes at the grassroot, state and national levels in the areas of Youth, Reproductive Rights and Gender & Governance. Programmes include a large evidence to policy initiative that involves the generation of robust data and evidence on diverse aspects of women’s empowerment, combined with policy advocacy and technical support to concerned Government Departments in Bihar.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Program Officer, Communications shall be responsible for supporting C3’s new Family Planning advocacy intervention.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
(1) Provide support to the intervention lead for implementing intervention activities, including advocacy events, meetings of expert groups and developing briefs and publications;
(2) Develop communication strategy to support the Family Planning advocacy intervention;
(3) Prepare and write briefs, policy documents and presentations, build social media visibility and support print and electronic media outreach;
(4) Travel 40% of time, mainly to Patna, Delhi and districts.

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualifications:
Applicants must have a master’s degree in health or social sciences or communications, with specific emphasis on health communication, promotion and/or education strongly preferred.

Experience:
(1) Candidates must have at least Eight to 10 years’ experience of working on development issues and understanding of communications for the non-profit sector;
(2) At least five years of experience in the field of strategic communications. Exposure to the development sector would be an advantage;
(3) Knowledge and understanding of reproductive health, family planning and gender issues would be an advantage;
(4) Experience of independently using social media, electronic and print media is essential.

Skills and Competencies:
(1) Understanding and familiarity with a range of communication channels and approaches;
(2) Entrepreneurial mind-set, with the ability to work independently, self-motivate, and propose and implement new initiatives;
(3) Ability to absorb and synthesize a broad range of information, especially clinical, scientific and technical information;
(4) Excellent command of the English and Hindi language encompassing both written and oral communication skills.

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

The offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.
