Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND) is a leading non-for-profit organization based in Geneva, Switzerland, dedicated to developing diagnostics for poverty related infectious diseases.

FIND is headquartered in Geneva and currently represented in India through a Liaison Office in Delhi and recently registered as a not-for Profit Company under section 8 of the Companies Act in India. FIND facilitates the development and implementation of diagnostic tools for poverty-related diseases. The foundation is presently engaged in the development of new diagnostic techniques for TB, HIV, Hepatitis C, Malaria and neglected tropical disease), across the world and specifically for MDR-TB in India

Your mission/Overall objective:

FIND’s Access programme aims to support rapid translation of global policy into relevant and actionable country plans, enable quality-assured scale up and use of proven diagnostic solutions, and support the creation of long-lasting, broad diagnostic capacity as the centre-piece of disease control. In India, FIND has received USAID funding to work on addressing issues around the diagnosis of children in urban settings in India to perform the activities for this project. FIND needs to engage the services of consultants who have the expertise required to build a strong technical team to support this project;

Your responsibilities/Job description:

Under the overall supervision and technical guidance of the Project Leader, CBNAAT Pediatric Project, FIND India, the Lab Coordinator, shall undertake the following tasks:

  1. Assist DTO and MOTC and FIND Project leader in the implementation of CBNAAT project;
  2. Coordinate with all concerned to ensure that all TB suspects are screened for TB in line with the project protocol;
  3. Get trained in performing CBNAAT;
  4. Implement the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for TB laboratories, including SOPs for specific aspects CBNAAT and ZN Microscopy, infection control, etc, to ensure GLP;
  5. Assist the CBNAAT lab staff in conducting testing of patient specimen on CBNAAT and by ZN smear microscopy in a timely manner;
  6. Ensure that the all test results are communicated to the providers, TB HVs, STS and diagnosed TB patients on the same day;
  7. Assist the district staff in ensuring that all TB patients diagnosed under the project are initiated on treatment in a timely manner;
  8. Maintain the project reports and records, incorporating required information in respect of all cases diagnosed in the project site;
  9. Manage clinical and laboratory aspects of the lab and ensure collection, recording and reporting of clean and quality data; In close coordination with STS and STLS, assist MOTC and DTO in preparation of Monthly and Quarterly Reports on as per the project SOP and their submission to the DTO and Project leader;
  10. Supervise each DMC included in the TU in the area at least once every week, on a systematic schedule to ensure all TB suspects are referred /their specimen are collected and dispatched to CBNAAT lab on the same day;
  11. Visit all patients diagnosed under the project at home in coordination with STS & STLS, as per the requirements of project protocol;
  12. Visit all potential providers in the city for sensitizing them about the project;
  13. Report any adverse event in the laboratory functioning to the Lab in-charge and FIND India Project leader, urgently;
  14. Liaise and facilitate with the FIND India project leader on all technical matters related to the laboratory functioning;
  15. Facilitate organizing patient provider interaction meetings and community meetings;
  16. Any other job assigned by project leader as per programme need;

The selected candidate shall be initially offered a consultancy contract until 30th September 2017; to be extended subject to project extension and fund availability.

Gross compensation: 22,500/- PM
