1. POSITION VACANT:  Chief of Operations (COO), CanKids.….KidsCan, New Delhi

2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

CanKids…..KidsCan (CanKids), is a respected, national, non-profit with operations in over 18 cities and 14 States across India, dedicated to effecting change and improvement on all aspects of treatment, care and support services, for children with cancer and their families in India.

CanKids has successfully piloted and implemented its model for Change for Childhood Cancer in India, targeting global survival rates of 70-95% and the highest quality of life for child cancer patients, families and survivors. 

The model integrates with holistic support to families of children with cancer under its signature YANA – You Are Not Alone program, delivered through CanKids Hospital Support Units (CHSUs) and CanKids Care Centers (CCCs), at hospitals where children and being treated for cancer.

CanKids has already registered and supported over 25,000 families of children with cancer under its YANA program of holistic care and support.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Chairman, the COO shall have overall responsibility for implementing strategies to ensure CanKidslong-term sustainability and the achievement of programmatic objectives.

This is a key senior management position and the post holder shall play a substantive role in strategic planning, including the oversight of key programmatic operations and ensuring their implementation.

S/he shall also be the key link between the organization’s regional operations, national programs and the Senior Management Team/ Board, for improving the functioning and decision-making process.

This is an exciting opportunity for a mature professional with a strong commitment to social cause and demonstrated experience of strategic planning, scaling-up and systemizing operations and service delivery, to steer and help achieve CanKids’ ambitious plans, goals and targets, and serve as a key 'growth and change' leader..

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

(1) Participate in the design and implementation of strategies to achieve the organization’s objectives, facilitating the achievement of results by supervising project operations;
(2) Lead internal projects/ assignments for improving the organization’s operations, processes and systems, addressing issues having administrative and commercial implications, including purchase, procurement and revenue management;
(3) Help develop policies and plans for the sustainability of the organization and oversee their execution;
(4) Plan, schedule and manage projects, ensuring the completion of assignments within time and budgetary parameters;
(5) Build capacities of internal teams, as well as those of partners, with a view to improving operations and financial performance, including the achievement of measures and milestones;
(6) Ensure the execution of work in close collaboration with national and international partners;
(7) Understand the application of Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) Models to the Social Sector and network with resources across different sectors, for their development;
(8) Represent CanKids to government officials, technical partners and medical professionals, to explain the organization’s objectives and services;
(9) Serve as a key contributor of organizational efforts at resource mobilization and availing of government resources;
(10) Resolve operational and human resource issues, meet statutory requirements and ensure delivery of requisite quality of services.

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualifications:
Applicants must be post graduates with a specialization in management/ operations.

Experience:
(1) The candidate must have at least eight years of relevant experience;
(2) Prior exposure to at least some aspect of healthcare service delivery is desirable;
(3) Prior experience of working on programs with business/ service orientation and client interface in the social/ corporate sector;
(4) Experience of managing a national level NGO, including oversight of health program management, administrative departments, business development, program expansion and setting up new projects, shall be an advantage;
(5) Prior experience of leading and managing medium to large sized teams in the design, implementation and supervision of project operations;
(6) Sound orientation to strategic planning, management and budgeting.

Senior programme managers from reputed non-profits with a strong orientation to strategic planning, results management and systemizing operations, are welcome to apply.

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

Gross compensation budgeted for the position is Rs. 18 to 20 lacs per annum (approx.). Please note that the offer shall be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and salary history of the selected candidate.
